About Golden Chariot Train

Golden Chariot, the luxury train owned by Karnataka Tourism (KSTDC) commenced operations in 2008 and has been promoting various sites of tourist interest in Karnataka and other neighbouring states.

The 19 coaches of golden chariot are painted in purple and gold. The coaches were initially named after the various royal houses of Karnataka which are Rastrakuta, Hoysala, Ganga, Kadamb, Chalukya Bhamani, Adilshahi, Sangam, Shatavashana, Yudukula and Vijayanagar.

The train features 11 guest carriages, 26 twin beds, 17 double bed cabins and 1 cabin for the physically challenged. Each cabin is equipped with Wi-Fi, an LCD TV, DVD with six satellite channels, a wardrobe and a private toilet with luxurious amenities and accessories.

50 km by road to Bandipur.

Evening Safari at Bandipur from 16:30 to 18:30 hrs.

Return to train for dinner.

Breakfast onboard.

Visit Mysore Palace.

Return to train for lunch.

Optional visit to Srirangapatnam.

Dinner onboard.

Breakfast onboard as train arrives at Banavar Rly Station.

Visit Halebidu from Banavar Rly Station at 08:00 hrs.

Return to train by 11:30 hrs.

Train proceeds to Chikamagalur. Lunch onboard.

Deboard at 15:00 hrs to visit plantations followed by coffee tasting and dinner.

Return to train.

After early breakfast onboard, proceed to visit Hampi ruins.

Lunch onboard.

Indian Evening onboard.

After breakfast onboard, optional visit to Badami Caves. (200 steps to climb).

Lunch onboard.

14:15 hrs deboard to visit Pattadakal and Aihole.

Dinner onboard.

Proceed to visit Churches of North Goa and Museum.

Deboard for a Bollywood Evening and dinner at a resort/hotel.

Return to the train by 21:45 hrs.

  • Itineraries and scheduled departures are subject to approval from Ministry of Railways and may change without prior notice.
  • In case of Single Occupancy, supplement charges shall be payable.

Child Policy:

  • Children below the age of 5 years are free to board the train, provided they share a bed with their parent (applicable only when double bed cabins are available).
  • Children between 5 and 12 years will be charged 50% of total price. Children have to accompany with two adults (applicable only when double bed cabin are available).
  • In case of separate cabins, children are charged 50% of total cost and supplement charges.
  • In such cases, where two adults fare are being charged, the second pax being child sharing the same cabin will get 50% discount on the adult cost paid.
  • If one adult and one child above five years choose to stay in separate cabin, the cost is calculated as two adult travelers.
  • For any other permutation and combination the existing child policy will prevail.

Cancellation Policy:

  • 20% of the price is charged if cancelled 60 days prior to the departure date.
  • 40% of the total price is charged as cancellation fee if cancelled between 45 and 59 days prior to the departure date.
  • No refund if cancelled less than 44 days prior to the departure date.

No Show/ En Route Termination of Tour/Amendment:

  • If the guests fail to show up at the departure point, no refund or adjustment will be made.
  • If the tour is ended by the guest, the unused part of the itinerary will not be refunded or reused.
  • In case of no-show due to serious illness, IRCTC decides the matter of providing an alternative itinerary or date. No refund will be made. Such amendments are not possible in case of full train booking or charter train booking.
